Jump-start your day with this Avocado Sourdough Toast with poached eggs and a cup of new Starbucks® Savory Mornings Blend! It’s new at Kroger and Kroger Banner stores and as much as I love sweet breakfasts, this savory combo makes it hard to resist.
We all know avocado toast is the best possible breakfast. Toasted sourdough, smashed avocado with a hint of lime, chopped cilantro, salt, pepper and topped with poached eggs. Have you ever thought that making poached eggs seemed intimidating?? I did! Until I made them and realized how simple and quick they are!
HOW TO MAKE THE BEST AVOCADO SOURDOUGH TOAST WITH POACHED EGGS:
1. First, start with making poached eggs. Bring a pan of water filled at least 5cm deep to a simmer and add a drop of light vinegar (vinegar helps to keep the egg white together). Crack your egg into a small bowl. Stir the water to create a gentle whirlpool -that helps the egg white wrap around the yolk. Slowly drop the egg into the center. The heat should be low enough to notice small bubbles rising. Cook for about 3 minutes until the white is set. Then, lift the egg out with a slotted spoon and drain it on kitchen paper. If you’re making more than one egg, you can skip the whirlpool part. The eggs won’t look as perfect but it’s so much faster! Even though it sounds like a lot, this whole process take about 5-7 minutes!
2. In the meantime, start preparing the avocado sourdough toast. Once you choose the perfect avocado, scoop it out, and mash it with the lime juice. Stir in chopped cilantro, salt and pepper.
3. Meanwhile, toast your favorite slice of bread. You can use any bread you have on hand, but a thick-sliced, sturdy sourdough is just classic! Spread mashed avocado onto a slice of toasted bread, topped off with poached eggs, chopped cilantro and black pepper and salt if desired.

The coffee press is such a low maintenance and easy way of brewing the coffee. Since I make it almost everyday I’ve worked out the perfect way!
HOW TO BREW FRENCH PRESS COFFEE:
1. Boil the water and let it cool for one minute.
2. Add the coffee grinds into the coffee press. Then pour in water in a circular motion. Give the grounds a gentle stir with a spoon.
3. Cover with a plunger and let it brew for 4 minutes. Then slowly push the plunger all the way down.
If you’re want to try the new Starbucks Sweet or Savory Mornings blend coffee but don’t have a french press at home, you can also use a regular drip brewer, or a Keurig since they are both available in K-Cup® pods!
I picked up my Starbucks Savory Mornings Blend at Kroger, which always seem to have the best prices here in Atlanta! It’s also super convenient and I always find everything I’m looking for there. If you haven’t seen it before it’s because the blend is new to Kroger and Kroger Banner stores!
