Easy Strawberry Basil Margarita. Such a fun and delicious twist on a traditional margarita recipe! Made with fresh strawberries, basil and sweetened with agave syrup. Your new sweet and savory refreshing summer cocktail!
I’m definitely not a big alcohol drinker but I love me some good margarita! This strawberry basil margarita is made with real ingredients and it comes together in just minutes. All the sweetness comes from fresh strawberries and a little agave syrup. The perfect iced cocktail to cool off during these hot summer days!
I love making fruity margaritas because you get such an amazing flavor by muddling fruit and herbs!
HOW TO MUDDLE STRAWBERRIES AND BASIL
To muddle, place strawberries, basil, lime juice and agave in a cocktail shaker, mason jar or a glass. Start pressing and twisting on the ingredients using muddler or back of a wooden spoon. You will start to smell basil and strawberries releasing their flavors!
INGREDIENTS
tequila – silver tequila is the best for margaritas
lime juice – freshly squeezed! I love using this lemon and lime squeezer
agave syrup – a natural way to sweetenen margarita!
fresh strawberries
fresh basil
pink himalayan salt or kosher salt – for the rims of glasses
HOW TO MAKE EASY STRAWBERRY BASIL MARGARITA
Prepare your glasses. Place salt in a shallow container or plate. Run a lime wedge around your glasses, then dip them in salt ( I love using pink himalayan salt, beside all the benefits, it has such a pretty color!). Set aside.
In a cocktail shaker, mason jar or glass, place strawberries, basil, lime juice and agave. Start pressing and twisting on the ingredients using muddler or back of a wooden spoon. You will start to smell basil and strawberries releasing their flavors! Add tequila, ice cubes and give it a few shakes.
Strain and pour over ice. I personally love adding some of the muddle fruit to my drink!
While you’re at it, make some tacos!! Here are some of my favorites
paleo blackened salmon tacos
salmon tacos with citrus salsa
spicy grilled shrimp tacos with pineapple salsa
