Nothing equal to freshly baked bread. The aroma flowing through the house, the taste, everything is just perfect. Here is my favorite everyday recipe for a must-have Homemade Whole Wheat Bread. The bread can be made start-to-finish in less than 3.5 hours and is very easy to put together. A few simple and healthy ingredients is all it takes.
The crust is super crisp when the bread is first baked and hot, then it softens. So be careful. First time I made this whole wheat bread I didn’t even let it cool off. Just ate almost the whole loaf in one go. Yes, that’s how delicious it is!
Making fresh bread is usually associated with a long process, that consumes a lot of time. Which is not true at all! Just scroll down and find out how easy and quick it is.
I chose to use white whole wheat flour, as it has a milder flavor and softer texture than a regular whole wheat. White whole wheat flour is as nutritious as whole wheat flour but it bakes and tastes better. If you prefer the taste and texture of white bread but want the natural nutritional benefits then you need to try it out.
THIS HOMEMADE WHOLE WHEAT BREAD IS:
- HIgh in fiber
- High in B vitamins
- Good source of minerals
To make the bread you will need to start with mixing flour, yeast and himalayan salt in a bowl. Make sure the yeast you use are fresh! Then combine with avocado oil, maple syrup and gradually add warm water. Mix it together with a wooden spoon or spatula. Form it into a ball and let rest for around 2-3 hours. Don’t worry if it’s sticky. That’s fine!
The recipe doesn’t get harder! All you need to do next is to make sure the dough is not too sticky by kneading it a few times. All done! Now it’s time to pop it in the oven and let the magic happen. Once ready, the best thing to do is to let it cool off completely before slicing. It’s extremely hard no to taste it before though.
When the bread has cooled and you have those beautifully shaped, thick and firm slices it’s time to make some sandwiches! I opted for combination of beet hummus (you can find the recipe below), mashed avocado, red cabbage, sprouts and tomato. So delicious and satisfying.
I hope you will enjoy this Homemade Whole Bread recipe and give it a try!
