Have you been looking for a simple and delicious breakfast oatmeal recipe? This Basic Stovetop Oatmeal recipe is exactly what you need! Morning oatmeal will boost your energy level and keep you full throughout the morning!
Old-fashioned oatmeal cooked with simple ingredients, packed with fiber, protein, important minerals, naturally sweetened, and extremely easy preparation. Oatmeal is my number one healthy breakfast staple, and I make it almost every other morning. What’s better than a warm bowl of oatmeal, especially during these chilly mornings?
COOKING OLD FASHIONED OATS
I usually opt for old-fashioned oatmeal since they’re softer in texture and take much less time to make than steel-cut oats. I like them to be perfectly creamy, thick, and slightly sweet. This bowl of oatmeal is sweetened with coconut sugar that adds an amazing rich flavor. You can add any sweetener you prefer, like for example coconut sugar, birch xylitol or maple syrup.
MAKING OATMEAL ON THE STOVE
Cooking oatmeal the stovetop is my favorite way of making them especially during cold months.
HOW TO MAKE OATMEAL ON THE STOVE
I like to start by toasting oatmeal with a little bit of coconut oil for a few minutes. It adds an amazing nutty and sweet flavor. Then add all the rest of ingredients (milk, sweetener, cinnamon and pinch of salt). Bring to a low boil, turn down the heat and cook for about 5 minutes until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid. Top off with your favorite ingredients and you’re done! I chose some of my seasonal favorites – permission, blood orange and pomegranate seeds.
This is a really great basic oatmeal recipe, that you can transform in any way you’d like. Feel free to get creative by adding your favorite toppings, like nuts, dried or fresh fruits, nut butters, etc.
