Venice is one of the most popular cities to visit when traveling to or from Europe. Despite us visiting the city during it’s off season, it was still pretty crowded. However, that did not bother us in discovering it’s magic.
We decided to stay for three nights (two full days), which turned out to be the perfect amount of time to visit.
Late at night we arrived at Marco Polo airport, took a short walk to purchase a bus ticket, and took the bus to Piazzale Romo. From there, we took a short walk to our hotel in the peaceful Cannaregio district. I would highly recommend staying in that area, as it is a little less crowded, has beautiful streets, canals, and is in short walking distance to all of the popular sights. For the two full days we were there, we explored the entire city on foot. After seeing the most popular tourist attractions, we decided to explore the spots that weren’t so well known, or popular. That is how we discovered all of the magic the city had to offer.
Throughout our journey we stopped at a few spots to eat that I would highly recommend. You can’t visit Italy without having some delicious Italian Pizza, Pasta, and Gelato! First we had Antico Forno , and tasted there delicious pizza. Later, we walked to Dal Moro’s and had freshly made pasta. It was so delicious we ate there twice! Finally, we finished off the day at La Mela Verde and had heavenly Gelato, made with top quality, bio ingredients and great flavors.
Venice has it’s own unique atmosphere, and is definitely a destination you need to visit at least once in your life. Exploring the city on foot is best to get the true experience of Venice. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes, and don’t be scared to get lost!
