These Spicy Shrimp Tacos with Harissa and Cabbage Cilantro Lime Slaw are loaded with so much flavor! They’re ready in just 30 minutes and make the perfect weeknight dinner.
These spicy shrimp tacos are hands down one of my favorite tacos to make! Shrimp is marinated with harissa paste, lemon juice and grilled. You can either grill it using an outdoor grill or a grill pan. Cabbage cilantro slaw adds the perfect crunch to these tacos. Shredded cabbage is tossed with a creamy cilantro yogurt sauce. The yogurt sauce is the perfect sauce for these tacos because it helps balance out the heat!
WHAT’S HARISSA PASTE?
Harissa is a spicy, tangy and an aromatic chile paste that originated in North Africa. It’s commonly use through out middle easter countries. I love using Trader Joe’s harissa paste or Mina brand!
HOW TO MAKE SPICY SHRIMP MADE WITH HARISSA?
To make spicy shrimp for tacos I used this grilled harissa shrimp recipe. Start with marinating shrimp with harissa paste and lemon juice. You can either marinate it for 15 minutes or for a couple of hours. The longer you marinate the more flavor you get.
HOW TO COOK SHRIMP FOR TACOS?
If using an outdoor grill, soak the wooden skewers. Preheat grill to a medium high heat. Thread shrimp on skewers and grill for 2-3 minutes per side. Remove shrimp from skewers, garnish with chopped cilantro and serve.
If using a grill pan, make sure you preheat it until very hot. Also use an oil with high smoke point such as avocado oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
CABBAGE CILANTRO LIME SLAW
Cabbage slaw is a must for tacos! To make it start with a yogurt sauce. Combine all the ingredients and toss it with shredded cabbage, reserving 1/3 cup to drizzle over the tacos!
WHAT TORTILLAS TO USE FOR THESE SPICY TACOS?
You can use any tortillas you like. I used these grain-free Siete tortillas which makes the tacos gluten-free and paleo friendly!

Ingredients

8 tortillas
1 cup greek yogurt
1 tbsp avocado or evoo oil
1/4 cup cilantro tightly packed, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
juice of one lime
3 cups white cabbage, chopped
salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare grilled shrimp according to the recipe.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl place mix yogurt, oil, cilantro, garlic, lime, salt and pepper. In another bowl put shredded cabbage and yogurt sauce reserving 1/3 cup of the sauce for later.
- Warm up tortillas on a gas burner or in the microwave. Assemble the tacos. Place slaw, shrimp and drizzle with a little bit of yogurt sauce. Serve with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.
