WHAT IS A HARISSA PASTE?
Harissa is a red chili paste that’s slightly sweet, smoky, tangy in taste and perfectly spicy. It’s usually made of a just few simple ingredients such as chiles, garlic, olive oil, citrus and spices. I love using Trader Joe’s harissa as well as this brand.
GRILLED HARISSA SHRIMP INGREDIENTS
Wild shrimp
Harissa
Lemon
Cilantro for garnish
HOW TO MAKE GRILLED HARISSA WITH SHRIMP
Place shrimp in a medium bowl, add harissa paste, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Cover with a plastic wrap and let it marinate on a countertop for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile soak the wooden skewers. You can skip this step if using a grill pan instead of outdoor grill.
Preheat outdoor grill to a medium high heat. Thread shrimp on skewers and grill for 2-3 minutes per side. Remove shrimp from skewers, garnish with chopped cilantro and serve.
If using a grill pan, make sure you preheat it until very hot. Also use an oil with high smoke point such as avocado oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side
